Bring the Society to Your State

The Black Rose Society is growing! Our chapters are the heart of our community, creating opportunities for members to gather, make memories, and experience the magic of Renaissance festivals together. If you’re ready to step into a leadership role and bring the Black Rose Society to your state, this is the first step in the process.

The Application Process

  1. Submit the Application

    • Applicants must have been active members of the Black Rose Society for at least 30 days.

    • Complete the Chapter Application Form linked below.

  2. Council Review

    • The Council carefully reviews each application to ensure alignment with our mission, values, and community standards.

  3. Video Interview

    • If your application is approved to move forward, we will schedule a video chat with you (and your co-leader, if applicable) to discuss your vision, plans, and leadership approach.

  4. Decision & Onboarding

    • Successful applicants will receive official recognition as a chapter of the Black Rose Society and guidance on how to get started.

What We’re Looking For

Chapter leaders are considered Council-level representatives of the Black Rose Society. This means we’re looking for applicants who:

  • Demonstrate commitment to our values of inclusivity, respect, and community.

  • Can host at least two large group photo opportunities during their faire season.

  • Show leadership or community-building experience.

  • Have a clear vision for how to grow a welcoming and active chapter.

  • Are able to represent the Society positively both at festivals and in online communities.

Important Notes

  • Applications are reviewed within 2–3 weeks.

  • Not all applications will be approved.

  • If approved, you’ll be contacted via email to set up a video interview.
